Join CRSP for a one-hour choral concert to mark the five-hundredth anniversary of the Reformation (1517 – 2017).  We are performing this concert at the kind invitation of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Our performance will open with Martin Luther’s musical setting of Psalm 46 “Eine feste Burg (A Mighty Fortress)”, followed by J. S. Bach’s two chorale arrangements of Luther’s original melody.  From there, we will explore Protestantism through the music of Praetorius, Sweelinck, Tallis, Byrd, and works from the Codex Specialnik.  The performance will end with Felix Mendelssohn’s grand setting of Psalm 43 “Richte mich, Gott (Vindicate me, O Lord)”.  CRSP Artistic Director Jane Perry will present two harpsichord solos as a part of the afternoon’s offerings, and the concert will be narrated by CRSP baritone Nicholas Zekulin.

Admission is by freewill offering
Half of the collected monies will be donated to the Rehabilitation Society of Calgary.

CRSP Performing at Equinox Vigil Sep 23

Each year, this very unique and moving event takes place at the Union Cemetery and CRSP will be a part of the experience. This is open to everyone and is free of charge.

Inspired by both ancient and contemporary traditions from around the globe, Equinox Vigil is a creative, respectful evening to honour the deceased and celebrate the natural cycle of Life and Death itself.

Inspiring art installations, video projections, and shrines created by professional artists form the heart of the Equinox Vigil experience.

But this is not art displayed as in a formal gallery setting. Rather, these artworks come alive through public participation. By performing simple acts like lighting candles or sharing the names of deceased loved ones at the digital shrine, each visitor to Equinox Vigil becomes part of a community drawing close to mourn its dead through art and public ritual.

Saturday, September 23rd
