Our Next Concert

Join Leonardo da Vinci at the French court of King Francis I. Francis laboured to bring Leonardo and numerous other artists and scholars to France to create excitement for the Renaissance. Francis' passion for all things Renaissance, and especially art, can still be seen when one travels the halls of the Louvre.

The Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players are excited to present this light-hearted concert featuring the entertaining and unique musical stories of Clément Janequin. Simply put, the music of Janequin is just plain fun; fun to sing and fun to listen to. The stories are definitely entertaining and emphatically not sacred. One can almost imagine Leonardo laughing as court musicians and buffoons performed the tongue-in-cheek music of this most jovial of French Composers.

We will present a number of works that - through sound - paint pictures of battles, Paris market calls, bird songs, and more.

For those who are not French speaking, this concert has been given a PG-13 rating. For those who do speak French, however:

This program contains Mature Subject Matter. Listener's Discretion is advised.
