2020 - 2021 Season

The Season of the Big Plague! Many plagues took place during the Renaissance period and now our choir has had the experience of being challenged to keep going as live performances were prohibited. We adapted to the times and presented a virtual season.

In September 2020 we launched our new public website!

We published 8 Virtual Choir Videos which can be viewed on our YouTube channel.

We also streamed two longer concert videos to replace our usual live performances.

A Renaissance Evensong was posted Dec 2020 to celebrate the season. Inspired by the meditative quality of the traditional Anglican Evensong, CRSP's A Renaissance Evensong embraces music and poetry outside the bounds of traditional liturgy as we make space for contemplation in the dark of winter.

In May 2021 we posted our Spring concert video Poetic Renaissance. After a season of adapting to a brave new world with regards for choir performance, this concert features 4 virtual choir videos, Shakespeare and musical performances by three of Calgary's talented performers. Truly a musical bouquet to bring in the Spring.

As all of these videos are accessible to the whole world, we did expand our audience and reached more Renaissance lovers than ever before.

We launched our Early Music Lecture Series and published two videos with our Nicholas Žekulin interviewing the world-wide esteemed director of the Tallis Scholars - Peter Phillips.

To further reach out to our audience and followers virtually - we sent out a newly designed e-newsletter The Quill featuring interesting articles on the people behind the choir and Renaissance culture.

Whew! That was a lot! We are proud that we offered more content this season that ever before. Please stay turned in the 2021 - 2022 Season as we continue with our virtual offerings as the Plague continues.
